THE NEWEST NEWS
Hi everyone, sorry it has taken me so long to update. In the time (since June) I don't remember too much changing in
terms of what we wanted changing... People tend to procrastinate. Our crystal ware is beginning to come in. At last count
we have one wine glass and one flute :)
James and I have recently returned from our Asia trip. We visited Japan, Russia, South Korea, China and Hong Kong. The
trip was mostly eating. Driving around to get to special places to eat and a little sight seeing. Unfortunately, we did
not bring our camera, but if you are interested in seeing what few pictures we did get, please see James' website www.hydrometallurgist.org
WARNING: You may want to be sitting down when you view them. Hopefully we will have more photos later when we get a CD from
other people's cameras.
While we were gone (four weeks in total) James's brother, Tony was supposed to be staying at our place to keep the plants
alive. He was able to keep the cactus and a couple other plants alive, but better yet, he and their aunt Barb cleaned up,
organized and redecorated our suite! As such, we no longer need another shoe rack!
Tony and Barb also discovered that we have a small living space, and as such, we can't really house too many big gifts.
As is, if we actually get all the plates and glasses we asked for, we'll need to get a chest to keep them in.
As always, we would gladly accept gift certificates or gift cards to Future Shop, The Bay, Mountain Equipment Co-op so
we can buy a computer (or TV!) and bike stuff. We currently live in Vancouver so we will be flying back after our honeymoon
(Dominican Republic! White sand beaches here we come!). If you buy us presents from our registries (at The Bay and Home
Outfitters) please have it sent to our "home" branch and we will pick it up ourselves instead of lugging them on
the plane.
James is as happy as I have seen him, he breaks out into spontaneous dance from time to time. He is busy at work in school
and working out regularly.
We are both looking forward to seeing all of you, our friends, family and well-wishers at our wedding.
THE PROPOSAL
It was a cool Friday evening in February, and James had just picked me up from yoga. He had finally convinced me to go
to yoga on my own and to reward me, he was letting me choose where to go for dinner.
We walked to Chokolate Park, which has a nice view of downtown, and watched the reflected sunset on the skyscrapers and
the twinkling lights from buildings. I was still grappling with my tough decision: it was either going to be the chocolate
buffet or japanese food.
As we were sitting on the park bench James reached into his breast pocket and pulled out the box. I couldn't believe
it! James had previously mentionned that he wouldn't propose until I was finished university and had a job. My mind was
reeling, all I could say was, "Oh, wow!" and I hugged him. He asked if that meant yes, and I said, "Of course!"
as I hugged him and kissed him again.
We went for Japanese food.
